How to get away with murder

The government won't be telling us how an asylum seeker under their care was murdered and scores of others beaten and terrorised. They won't be telling us why the Federal police are refusing to cooperate with the PNG police investigation. They won't be telling us why the organisation responsible for the brutal treatment of detainees is now also also the organisation responsible for monitoring their welfare. They won't be telling us why those detainees will now be denied access to legal advice and representation.

They won't be telling us why the Government and their henchmen need protecting from the law. They won't be telling us why about 1,000 children need to be kept in these conditions. They won't be telling us why boat arrivals are operational matters they don't comment on but no arrivals during 100 days of the monsoon season is screamed from the rooftops. They won't be telling us why a higher portion of detainees in Australian Immigration detention camps have committed suicide than did so in Guantanamo Bay.

They won't be telling us why a system the UNHCR condemns as torture is being made more torturous in response. They won't be telling us why the psychopathic monster who is responsible for this is being supported by both sides of parliament and encouraged to continue without sanction or scrutiny. They won't be telling us why, if it's all being done in our interests and in our name, we don't deserve to be told.

Fortunately for the Government, most of us won't ask.
