Release the CDC Data to the Public!

It is not unusual for authoritarian and totalitarian regimes to engage in mass secrecy, especially when their public policy results in embarrassing figures.

But the United States has at least pretended that it believes in the free communication of scientific data.

Until now.

The disaster that has befallen the United States has provided statistics which are grim reading; as of today there have been 3,763,977 cases and 141,930 deaths; a loss of American life significantly greater than their military campaigns in Vietnam and Korea combined. And the numbers are continuing to rise.

The people of the world have come to trust the figures released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But these figures are no longer available for the public.

This is censorship of what is the most important public health data in the United States.

It is imperative that health organisations take this issue through whatever legal channels are available to make this information publically available.

It is imperative that those who still have access to this data make every effort to ensure that the rest of the public has access to this data.

It is imperative those with the appropriate skills in data acquisition, and you know what I mean, make every effort to break the information and computation barriers that are preventing public access to this data.

"Redfield is about the worst person you could think of to be heading the CDC at this time. He lets his prejudices interfere with the science, which you cannot afford during a pandemic."
