Federal election campaign: Day 24 and 25

Day 24 and 25 of the Federal election campaign, and the big news items are the second leader's debate and a number of policy announcements coming from Labor's official campaign launch. Again our independent and publically-owned ABC (which the IPA finds troubling) provides a fact-check on the debate, which, on sheer volume of dubious claims made, don't look good for the Prime Minister. Looking even less good was Scott Morrison gesticulating wildly towards Bill Shorten, with the latter describing him a "space invader". For what is is worth, it in the debate on the budget's proposed tax cuts to give $77bn in tax cuts to those earning more than $180K per annum.

Labor's official campaign launch was a pretty tight affair with a Welcome to Country, and then Pat Dodson declaring that Labor would deliver constitutional recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the first term of government. Following the announcement to protect funding for the National Disability Insurance Scheme Future Fund, Labor also announced half a billion to speed up emergency department wait times, a new tax cut for small businesses who take on new employees, plus a crackdown on multinational tax avoidance, expected to raise $2.3 bn.

Meanwhile, in the Greens camp, the federal Greens will push for Australia to declare a national "climate emergency", following in the footsteps of the UK. The leader of the Greens, Senator Di Natale, also supported Labor's $1 billion pledge for environmental initiatives, which includes a native species protection fund and protecting beaches from erosion.

And if you're wondering... no, I don't have any policies of note from the LNP, *again*.
