Eight Pointed Star Movement

Eureka Flag
The Eight Pointed Star Movement takes its inspiration from the Eureka rebels. The Eureka rebels used the eight pointed star on their flag - the Eureka Flag.

  • Human beings are born with inalienable rights and liberties no Government can legislate away or corporation take away. Ultimate political authority rests in the hands of the people, not the State, the Government of the day or the Corporate sector.
  • Citizens should have the ability to initiate legislation through citizen initiated referendums and have the power to recall their political representatives in between elections.
  • All human beings have the same rights irrespective of race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age or role in society.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders never ceded sovereignty. The 1992 Mabo High Court decision that recognised they had legal rights to land and sea has been drowned by bucket loads of Parliamentary extinguishment. A treaty is the only way to ensure reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians becomes a reality.
  • Climate change is real and due to human activity. We need to make significant economic, social, cultural and political changes to deal with the greatest challenge faced by human beings in the 21st century.
  • The domination of the world economy by corporate capitalism, an economic system based on the creation of ever increasing profits irrespective of the human, social and environmental costs, needs to be met head on by the creation of an economic system based on co-operatives and collectives that satisfies real, not manufactured, human needs.
  • The Australian states need to be replaced by a Federation of 50 Regional Councils based on direct democratic principles who use the common wealth for the common good, not private profit.
  • The tax base needs to be widened by the introduction of a 1% stock market turnover tax and a wealth tax to ensure adequate resources are available to fund public health, public education and essential public services and public infrastructure.

"We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties" – Eureka Oath 29th November 1854.

Sentiments that are as relevant in 2013 as they were in 1854.

The Eight Pointed Star Movement will be attempting to participate in the Federal Election on the 7th September, not because we think or seek to be elected to parliament, but because we believe elections provide an opportunity to raise issues that go beyond the two minutes of illusory power that occurs every time we vote and give a Parliamentary representative a signed blank cheque to make decisions for us for the next three years.

... for the government to raise money.

The tax base needs to be widened by the introduction of a 1% stock market turnover tax..

This will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices, which means less demand and less jobs.

The current Federal election campaign is a boring, futile exercise conducted by grey arsed bureaucrats who wouldn't recognise the truth if they fell over it. Radical Independent candidates, Dr. Joseph Toscano & Ms. Beth Matthews have conducted a lively
election campaign based on trust.

They encourage people to make their latest poster campaign:

SUPERHEROES
Put the number 1 in the box marked T on the Victorian Senate ballot paper to indicate their support for Toscano/Matthews Eight Pointed Star Movement.

This election campaign is Murdoch's election campaign conducted by Murdoch's boy (formerly known as Tony Abbott) and Murdoch's former boy (currently masquerading as Kevin Rudd). Toscano/Matthews' campaign puts a little humour in an otherwise dull election campaign fought by two men flipping the same coin. Make the 'Superheroes put the number 1 in the box marked T on the Victorian Senate ballot paper' a household word. E-mail it to your friends, e-mail it to your enemies, send ASIO and ASIS a copy. Set the cat among the Parliamentary Pigeons, kick some radical independents into the Senate.
