I know how it can be done.

The Equal Love, Inc., campaign group has been operating since 2004. It, and other organisations, have been very succesful in keeping the message in the media, lobbying politicians, and organising rallies. In 2004, Newspoll indicated that support for marriage equality was at 38% with 44% opposed and 18% undecided. Since then, the number of people opposed has declined, and the undecideds has shrunk even more dramatically, and the number of supporters has increased.

In 2004 Prime Minister, John Howard, has said that he takes total responsibility for Australia's decision to join the war. However as the the Chilcot Inquiry has shown the decision to invade Iraq was most certainly a breach of international criminal law and and specifically a crime against peace.

The Coalition will win tomorrow. The swing and the number of seats that Labor needs to win is too big and whilst they'll put a good fight, it'll be just out of reach.

With the Coalition returned, the price of housing will become increasingly out of reach, because the Coalition is the party that is wedded to the insane policy of taxpayer-funded subsidies to the landlord class, despite the fact that it is a miserable failure in providing new housing stock.

It is understandable that, when a governing party is faced with downward opinion polls, that they may attempt to throw a dead cat. Immigration is always a good target these days, even for a country built on immigrant labour (how quickly we forget).

In a recent interview with Leigh Sales of ABC1, the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, claimed that he didn't need any evidence for his claims that a third of "investors" will leave the property market if Labor's proposals on negative gearing are introduced and that Labor's negative gearing reforms would "take a sledgehammer" to property prices.

Last Sunday I visited the beautiful deco-era Astor Cinema to see a Studio Ghibli double, My Neighbor Totoro and Porco Rosso. For those of a political mind, the latter is a very interesting historical fantasy. Set during the Great Depression it follows the adventures of a former WWI Italian fighter pilot who now makes his money as a bounty-hunter against "air pirates" on the Adriatic coastline. As a fantasy film the pilot has been struck by a curse and has been turned into an anthropomorphic pig.
