One interesting thing about the current political situation is that I have literally no idea what's going to happen. Here are a few possibilities:
A) The House votes to impeach, but Mitch McConnell refuses to allow a vote in the Senate. Trump carries out the rest of his term under a cloud. During the debates, Biden calls him a coward and struts around him while clucking like a chicken. The Biden-Buttigieg ticket ekes out a narrow 291-247 victory in 2020. America reaches net zero emissions in 2049.
B) House Democrats conclude that they don't have enough evidence to convince the Senate to convict, but they do have enough to throw Rudi behind bars. Rudi panics, tells Trump that the situation is pretty dire, and Trump panics and decides to resign. SDNY immediately arrests him for a long laundry list of crimes, and he spends the rest of his life in court. Pence becomes president, and names Jim Ritsch (R-Idaho) as VP. Warren-Booker beats Pence-Ritsch by 338 electoral votes to 200. America reaches net zero emissions in 2054.
C) Trump throws Pence under the bus and forces him to resign. He names Mitch McConnell as his new VP, under the assumption that this will make him unimpeachable. Mitch McConnell leaks evidence that Trump had solicited the government of East Timor to hack the DNC servers. Trump, who knows a coup when he sees one, refuses to resign. Pelosi, who knows an opportunity when she sees one, refuses to impeach. The GOP collapses into civil war. Harris-Sanders wins the 2020 election 425-113. America reaches net zero emissions in 2070.
D) Trump and Pence both get impeached and removed from office. Nancy Pelosi becomes president and announces that she won't run for reelection. Faced with a choice between Bill Weld and Mark Sanford, the GOP decides to nominate Mitt Romney again, with Jon Huntsman as his running mate. Biden-O'Rourke wins the 2020 election 353-185. America reaches net zero emissions in 2058.
E) Trump is impeached and removed from office. Pence names Nyarlathotep the Crawling Chaos as VP, under the assumption that this will make him unimpeachable. Nyarlathotep devours Pence and names Tulsi Gabbard as VP. Tulsi devours Nyarlathotep and names Cory Booker as VP, on the grounds that he's vegan and therefore unlikely to devour her. The 2020 election is cancelled. America officially reaches net zero emissions in 2021. Gabbard-Booker is reelected 538-0 in 2024, 2028, 2032, and 2036. Gabbard perishes in 2039 when her orbital palace complex hits a micrometeorite. Corey Booker restores democracy in 2040. Yang-Musk wins the 2040 election 330-208 and invest heavily in time travel. Gore-Lieberman win the 2000 election 292-246. America reaches net zero emissions in 2028.
