It's a pity the Federal government, the Federal opposition and the fourth estate in Australia, including the Sunday Age's "Bishop vows to tackle Iraq threat", "Obama expands on plan to 'degrade' Islamic State" (7/9), outrage at the cold blooded public execution of journalists, civilians and combatants by ISIS militants is not matched by their rage at events that have led to the deaths of over 500,000 West Papuans, just 200 kilometres from Darwin, over the past 50 years.
It's a pity the kidnapping, execution and mutilation of the body of West Papuan Martinus Yohame, Chair of the Sorong Branch of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB), drew such little reaction from the fourth estate in Australia and no reaction from the Federal government and opposition.
It's a pity the Federal government, led by Tony Abbott is so vociferous and vindictive when it comes to protecting our national sovereignty from refugees and asylum seekers who seek asylum by boat, while ignoring the activities of Indonesian security agencies in Australia openly monitoring the activities of West Papuan refugees who have been granted asylum and citizenship by Australia.
It seems when it comes to Indonesia's brutal treatment of West Papuans, both the Federal government and opposition are willing to turn a blind eye to what is happening both in West Papua and on Australian soil, while happily providing military assistance to Ukraine, a country not in our sphere of influence and plunging Australia into war with a bunch of religious thugs and zealots on the other side of the world.
